Gopinātha Ācārya
biographical name
a great devotee of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. He was the husband of Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya’s sister. During Mahāprabhu’s childhood, he lived in Nadīyā. He later lived with the Bhaṭṭācārya in Purī-dhāma while Mahāprabhu was there. He was the first one in Pūri to proclaim Śrī Caitanya as Bhagavān, for which he was initially ridiculed by the Bhaṭṭācārya, who later obtained the mercy of Mahāprabhu
